Both are composed of 100% carbon and have the same chemical composition, hardness, density, refractive index and dispersion factor. A created diamond is identical in brilliance, sparkle, fire and scintillation - the only difference is that a lab created diamond comes from above the earth, a mined diamond comes from below.
At our partner facility in South Carolina, USA, tiny diamond seeds are placed inside specialized diamond growing chambers. Inside these chambers the seeds are blasted with intense heat, pressure, and carbon. The carbon molecules grab onto the diamond seeds and begin to grow into a rough diamond.
Growing a rough diamond large enough to become jewelry quality takes 3-5 months. After the rough is grown it is sent off to a traditional hand cutting facility for cutting and polishing. Every lab grown diamond over 0.50 carats is then sent to an accreddited gemological institution to be laser inscribed and certified.
